About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Frontend Software Engineer to join our Platform Team at AirTree Ventures Pty. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing public frontend APIs on Canva's core features, as well as building the platform and sandbox for apps to run in.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop public frontend APIs on Canva's core features, ensuring they are scalable, maintainable, and meet the needs of our customers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, product, and engineering, to deliver features and experiments to our customers worldwide.
  • Work closely with leads, designers, and product managers to identify opportunities for cross-team collaboration and drive innovation.
  • Design and implement public APIs, balancing good design, extensibility, ease of use, and delivery, with versioning and migrations, and supporting old versions with deprecation periods.
  • Develop and deploy solutions and hands-on software development, working closely with leads, designers, and product managers to deliver features and experiments to our customers worldwide.
Requirements
  • Firmly grounded in computer science and engineering fundamentals, including concurrency, multithreading, data structures, solution design, architecture, and design patterns.
  • Experience with TypeScript (or other typed languages), React, Mob X (or other state management libraries), particularly using types on APIs to provide guard rails for developers.
  • Interest in focusing on integration code and designing easy-to-use APIs with versioning.
  • Experience working collaboratively with team members and communicating effectively.
About the Team

The App Api Platform group at AirTree Ventures Pty builds public frontend APIs on Canva's core features, as well as building the platform and sandbox for apps to run in. Our team is responsible for designing and developing public frontend APIs, ensuring they are scalable, maintainable, and meet the needs of our customers.
