Weir Minerals Australia Seeks a Comminution Expert

At Weir Minerals, we are dedicated to developing innovative engineering solutions for the mining and minerals industry. As a leader in our field, we are currently seeking a talented Comminution Expert to join our team as a Regional HPGR Process Engineer.

This role will involve taking ownership of the regional Enduron HPGR Technology adoption in both Greenfield and Brownfield projects, as well as developing new opportunities in the APAC region. The successful candidate will have a strong background in process engineering within the mining or minerals processing industry and operational exposure in minerals processing plant environments.

About the Role:

  • Design comminution flowsheets to obtain relevant operational parameters, understanding processing plants through audits and data review.
  • Prepare design calculations and documentation, replicating existing modelling baseline using plant modelling software (Aggflow, JKSim, IES).
  • Develop optimised models including HPGR.
  • Demonstrate operational savings, such as reduced energy, increased throughput, and lower grinding media consumption, with a cost of ownership model.
  • Develop HPGR test work, including designing, preparing, and submitting proposals.
  • Coordinate HPGR test plans, analysing results, preparing final test reports, and submitting them to customers.
  • Evaluate HPGR machine selection specifications, portraying appropriate information and design intent through reviews of available sizing input, calculation of required HPGR size, tyre life time, and tyre surface recommendation, and simulating the HPGR product.
  • Provide ongoing support to the Regional Manager during the tendering phase, reviewing datasheets/quotations, and supporting technical meetings with clients.
  • Complete onsite process audits to identify improvement opportunities and support clients with Operational Excellence (OE) and Asset Management (AM).
  • Support Product Management with regional product feedback and recognising product opportunities for business development.

Requirements:

  • A degree qualification in Engineering, Mining, Mineral Processing, or Metallurgy, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in process engineering within the mining or minerals processing industry.
  • Operational exposure in minerals processing plant environments.
  • Exposure to operational improvement and optimisation.

Location: Perth, WA

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience.
