Lead Cyber Security Director

The ATO is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cyber Security Director to lead the protection and safeguarding of its information and systems.

About the Role

This leadership role involves taking charge of one or more areas within the branch, including cyber security operations, governance, strategy or program portfolio management. You will be responsible for driving change and continuous improvement in our cyber resilience capabilities while managing threats and risks to safeguard people, information, assets and services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Ensure appropriate security standards and IT security controls are implemented in accordance with the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM) and the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
  2. Propose and implement new security capabilities to meet organisational requirements and strategic objectives.
  3. Engage with internal stakeholders and IT service providers to ensure compliance with legislative, contractual and policy obligations.
  4. Develop robust policy and strategic advice that supports adherence to security frameworks and protects ATO and taxpayer information.
Requirements
  • You will require strong leadership skills, expertise in cyber security and experience in managing teams.
  • A proven track record in implementing security solutions and improving cyber resilience capabilities is essential.
  • You will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with internal stakeholders and external partners.
