About the Role

The Head of Manufacturing Operations is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the production process and ensuring the delivery of defence/engineering projects to agreed milestones. This role requires a strong background in manufacturing, ideally with experience in ASDEFCON contracts, and the ability to work closely with project teams, supply chain, quality, safety, and other key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead specialist teams to production schedules
  • Collaborate with project teams, supply chain, quality, safety, and other stakeholders to deliver projects to agreed milestones
  • Manage a large production team and have responsibility for business planning, workforce planning and allocation, operational safety, people leadership, and production delivery to contract specifications
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications at bachelor or certificate level, or equivalent, relevant to mechanical matters (Eng, Mech, etc.)
  • LEAN, TQM, Kaizen, 6-Sigma or equivalent, applied in production assembly facilities
  • Experience with delivering ASDEFCON contracts highly regarded
  • Proven track record in manufacturing environments delivering on milestones
  • Experience in project management within defence/engineering projects or other related operational execution disciplines
  • Experience leading multi-specialist teams, including matrixed and multi-functional teams
  • Proven ability to contribute to strategic planning, business planning, and resource deployment, business processes improvement, and budget ownership
  • Experience in managing proposals, estimates, and technical documents
  • Ability to travel internationally and domestically when required
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required)
