About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has emerged for a skilled Technical Trainer to become part of our Rail Training division. The primary objective of this position is to deliver on-site training and evaluation for Road-Rail Plant and Surfacing Operators within our national Rail sector, equipping them with the essential knowledge and skills to operate Track Machines and Road-Rail Vehicles while emphasizing the critical safety aspects of railway operations. This role may also require travel to various locations to provide training as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creating training programs aligned with operational needs.
- Conducting Nationally Accredited training for John Holland staff from the Transport and Logistics Training Package.
- Training and assessing personnel in Track Machines and/or Road-Rail Vehicles, along with other Rail & Civil Plant and Equipment.
- Collaborating with curriculum developers to create new training materials, serving as Subject Matter Experts and participating in validation and piloting processes.
- Building relationships within the organization, offering essential training insights and guidance to Operational Personnel.
- Providing mentorship to John Holland field staff.
- Ensuring that training and assessments, both in classroom settings and in the field, are conducted with a focus on safety and risk management to protect trainees and promote continuous improvement across Rail business locations.
- Exploring innovative approaches for delivering training and assessments in accordance with safety and operational standards.
To excel in this pivotal role, you should ideally possess:
- Knowledge of operating track machines and/or road-rail vehicles.
- Experience within a Rail Network/Infrastructure environment.
- Facilitation experience in a classroom setting.
- Cert IV in Training and Assessment.
The ideal candidate would also have:
- Strong mechanical skills.
- A High Risk Work License, with advantages for Forklift, EWP, Crane, Dogging, and Rigging.
- A Medium or Heavy Rigid driver's license.
- Experience with the TLI Transport and Logistics package for Rail Infrastructure (Accreditation in SX52 Safely Access Rail Corridor is a plus).
- Subject Matter Expertise in Hi Rail machine operation, ideally holding qualifications for three machines and possessing a minimum of five years of experience.
