Job Description:

The Department of Health, Tasmania seeks a highly skilled Senior Psychiatrist to join our Older Persons Mental Health Service team. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will play a lead role in the clinical care of patients with mental illness and dementias.

  • Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive assessments and diagnoses of mental illness and dementias in older adults, working across various settings.
  • Treatment and Management: Develop and implement treatment plans for patients, incorporating medication management, psychotherapy, and other interventions as needed.
  • Community and Inpatient Care: Work collaboratively with community teams and inpatient facilities to provide seamless care for patients, including case management and subacute inpatient care.
  • Clinical Leadership: Provide expert guidance and support to junior staff members, contributing to the development of management plans and case conferences.
