Electrical Workshop Lead

About the Role:
  • We are seeking an experienced Electrical Manager to lead our new workshop in a challenging mining environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and oversee electrical projects, ensuring adherence to safety standards and quality requirements.
  • Schedule projects with mechanical rebuild scopes and collaborate with the mining team to achieve timely delivery.
  • Establish accurate costings and budgets for electrical scopes, communicating them to management effectively.
  • Conduct regular performance checks, machine condition assessments, and maintenance inspections.
  • Promote a safety-first culture across the mining team, upholding company policies and relevant laws, regulations, and workplace standards.
  • Lead a team of electrical technicians and foster a positive work environment.
  • Maintain accountability for electrical requirements of projects and associated site work.
About You:
  • 5+ years of experience working with mining equipment, preferably underground coal environments.
  • Strong knowledge of mining equipment and machinery, including maintenance, diagnostics, and repair processes.
  • Proven experience working with OEMs, suppliers, and clients in mining or industrial settings, especially with large-scale equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with equipment safety standards, compliance management, and environmental regulations specific to mining and heavy machinery sectors.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and repairs of electrical components in mining equipment.
  • Proficiency in using electrical diagnostic tools and systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise with team members, clients, suppliers, and senior managers.
Minimum Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience working in underground coal environments.
  • Electrical trade qualification.
  • Tertiary qualifications in business management or electrical engineering.

This role requires a strong background in mining equipment, team development, and operational excellence.
