This role requires a skilled professional who can deliver high-quality plumbing services for Water and Waste Services. The ideal candidate will have experience in water construction and maintenance, strong communication and customer service skills, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work both independently and in a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installing and maintaining water infrastructure, including pipes, meters, and house service connections.
  • Responding to emergency plumbing issues while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Guiding and training apprentices, trainees, and team members.
  • Maintaining and repairing water mains, valves, hydrants, and other assets.
  • Assisting in the construction and installation of new water and wastewater assets.
  • Completing documentation such as job sheets, timesheets, and risk assessments.
  • Providing excellent customer service while representing the council professionally.
Requirements:
  • Qualified and licensed Plumber/Drainer with relevant industry experience.
  • Construction Induction Training (White Card).
  • Occupational/Open Plumber/Drainer licence.
  • MR Licence or above (or willingness to obtain within 3 months of appointment).
  • Current Hepatitis A, B, and Tetanus immunisations (or ability to acquire).
  • Strong understanding of plumbing standards and compliance with the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2018.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and provide guidance to apprentices and trainees.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to respond to emergency situations.
  • Good organisational skills to plan and prioritise tasks.
