Job Opportunity

The role of a Graduate Teacher Program-Special Developmental is to further develop skills and competencies to become an effective classroom practitioner with structured support and guidance from teachers at higher levels. This position involves the planning, preparation, and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes.

As a Graduate Teacher, you will be accountable for the effective delivery of your programs, and work collaboratively with colleagues and students to ensure high-quality educational experiences.

This position offers a range of opportunities for professional growth and development, including mentoring and coaching from experienced educators. You will have the opportunity to work closely with students, parents, and the broader school community to support student learning, wellbeing, and engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and implementing teaching programs or courses of study
  • Teaching an area of the curriculum or a general curriculum to a year level
  • Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting student progress in key learning areas
  • Implementing strategies to achieve targets related to student learning outcomes

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the capacity to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills
  • Demonstrated capacity to respond to student learning needs
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values
