About the Opportunity

The University of Tasmania is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Data Analyst to join the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS). As a key member of the Data Management section, you will play a critical role in ensuring the adoption of best data management practices and information services.

This is a full-time, 3-year fixed-term role based in Hobart, Tasmania. You will work closely with researchers from IMAS and partner organisations to design, implement, and maintain end-to-end data workflows for research data hardware and software infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice to researchers on data management best practices, including adherence to FAIR principles and compliance with the Australian Code for Responsible Conduct of Research.
  • Design and oversee data workflows from concept to completion, ensuring operational availability of complex IT hardware and software infrastructure.
  • Support researchers in managing and manipulating research datasets and online SQL databases.
  • Represent IMAS at national and international meetings and travel to national data centres as necessary.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and/or education training.
  • Advanced understanding of best practice in data management, including FAIR data principles and management of sensitive data.
  • Extensive experience in supporting and administering IT infrastructure and applications, preferably in a marine research facility.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience working with large datasets and associated storage environments, including SQL databases.
What We Offer

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7, with a total remuneration package of up to $126,637, comprising base salary within the range of $98,473 to $108,237 plus 17% superannuation.
