Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to fill the role of Legal Officer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for advocating and making structured decisions on legal matters for adults with impaired capacity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advocate and make structured decisions on legal matters for adults with impaired capacity.
  • Provide advice and assistance to the Public Guardian (and their delegates) in relation to guardianship matters.
  • Undertake advocacy and timely supported and substituted decision making for adults with impaired decision-making capacity for legal matters in areas of law such as criminal law, mental health, child protection, domestic and family violence, and family law.
  • Support other delegated officers to deliver timely, supported and substituted decision making for adults with impaired decision-making capacity.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must have a law degree from a recognised tertiary institution and be admitted, or must be eligible for immediate admission as a legal practitioner in Queensland.
  • Mandatory Qualifications: Must possess a C class driver's licence.
