Teaching Position: Secondary School Outdoor Education

Hill Side Christian College is a leading evangelical Christian school seeking an experienced educator to fill a fixed-term position commencing Term 3, 2025. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Year 11 and 12 ATAR, General Outdoor Education, Years 9-10 Outdoor Education, and Year 11 Essential and Foundation Mathematics.

The role involves leading two 3-day camps during Term Two, including a Year 11 Expedition which returns on a Saturday. Regular excursions will also be organized using time during lunch, recess, before and after school. The teacher will be responsible for implementing risk management and emergency response protocols as necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching
    • Deliver Year 11 and Year 12 ATAR, General Outdoor Education, Years 9-10 Outdoor Education, and Year 11 Essential and Foundation Mathematics.
  • Camps and Excursions
    • Lead two 3-day camps during Term Two, including a Year 11 Expedition which returns on a Saturday.
    • Organize regular excursions using time during lunch, recess, before and after school.
  • Risk Management
    • Implement risk management and emergency response protocols as necessary.
Requirements
  • Qualifications and Skills
    • Hold a teaching qualification and have the skill set to run activities such as camping, hiking, canoeing/kayaking, abseiling, rock climbing, and bushwalking.
  • Christian Faith
    • Demonstrate a personal faith in Jesus Christ as God and Saviour and be an active member of an evangelical Christian Church.
  • Teamwork
    • Possess high-level skills and a desire to work within a Christian team setting.
