About the Service:

The Medicare Mental Health Services are free, and you do not need an appointment, referral or Medicare card to visit a Medicare Mental Health Centre. The services in Launceston, Devonport, Burnie and Outer Hobart are co-funded by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments, to provide a streamlined approach to support better mental health and social wellbeing across the country.

The service is tailored to the needs of the community in Tasmania and provides a combination of peer-led recovery and clinical support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Brief and ongoing interventions and collaborative individual care plans
  • Function autonomously, working collaboratively with other clinicians
  • Participate in planning and developing services for people with mental health issues and their families

Requirements:

  • Must have one of the following: Full AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or Mental Health Nurse, OR AASW registration as a Social Worker
  • Knowledge and Skills gained through qualifications and previous experience in a mental health service delivery environment
  • Proven judgment and evaluation skills demonstrating a working understanding of assessment and care planning
  • Sound understanding of public, non-government and private mental health systems and programs in a community setting
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills showing an ability and sensitivity to work with people who have or are at risk of developing a mental illness
  • Demonstrated skills in organisation and time-management, including the ability to work under pressure and balance multiple tasks
  • Excellent verbal communication and writing skills
  • Proven understanding of duty of care, rights to privacy and confidentiality
  • Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC
  • Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
