About the Role

The Protective Security Advisor will play a key role in supporting the management of the department's protective security arrangements.

  • Ensure compliance with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and other security frameworks through consulting with internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Provide strategic input into the management of a range of protective security outputs, including compliance activities, procurement, contracts, and reporting activities.
  • IDentify and manage enterprise-level risks through risk assessments, site inspections, and risk mitigation activities relevant to the department's people, information, and assets.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of robust protective security frameworks, policies, and guidelines owned by the Property and Security Branch.
  • Support the delivery of business-as-usual activities such as managing national protective security systems, delivering the annual protective security works program, managing helpdesk functions, and delivering training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential threats to the department's people, information, and assets.
  • Situational Awareness: Maintain situational awareness of the department's protective security environment and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to the PSPF and other security frameworks through regular audits and reviews.
  • Communication: Develop and maintain effective communication channels with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operation of protective security arrangements.
  • Training: Provide training and capacity-building programs for staff on protective security best practices.
