The Centre for Invasive Species Solutions is a national leader in developing coordinated research, development and engagement portfolios that meet Australia's invasive species challenges. As Director of Research, Development and Engagement, you will play a critical part in shaping the organisation's national invasive species research and innovation pipeline.

You will oversee a growing portfolio of 30+ projects across both invasive pests and weeds, leading a dynamic team with five direct reports who are dedicated to making a real difference to environmental management.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team of five direct reports delivering nationally significant research across invasive pests and weeds
  • Oversight of the quality, delivery and impact of the RD&E portfolio, including rigorous project oversight and governance
  • Strategic reporting on RD&E program outcomes, including updates to stakeholders
  • Representing the organisation on national working groups, research forums, and major collaborative initiatives
  • Partnering with the CEO to identify, support and secure funding opportunities, including government grants, research tenders and large-scale multi-partner initiatives

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • A PhD or Masters Degree in a relevant field, equipping you with the ability to assess complex scientific concepts
  • Knowledge of invasive animals and/or weeds, and their impacts and control options in Australia
  • Excellent project management skills, including governance, reporting and budget management
  • Relationship-building skills, particularly with government and industry partners
  • A strong commercial mindset with a focus on revenue growth and portfolio expansion
  • Experience leading a team and building staff capability
