We are seeking a skilled Horticulturist to join our team at Hornsby Shire Council. As a key member of our Parks Service Unit, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving our expansive gardens, picnic and lawn areas, and servicing of park amenities.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and improve gardens, trees, lawns, bushland, and amenities for the safety and enjoyment of others
- Apply expert knowledge of park and garden maintenance
- Operate Council vehicles and ride-on mowers
- Undertake effective use of and care and maintenance of resources, including plant and equipment, tools, and materials in a safe and efficient manner
- Assist in maintaining a safe work place
We are looking for a person with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines as set by the Parks Service Unit Supervisors. A high standard of service is necessary to take appropriate action in response to a variety of internal and external demands.
Good physical fitness is critical as manual labouring tasks are required. Good listening and communication skills are essential to ensure directions and instructions are carried out safely, promptly, and accurately.
The position is expected to work in an outdoor environment under varying weather conditions throughout various sites within Hornsby Shire.
RequirementsYou will have a Certificate in Horticulture or equivalent knowledge, skill, and experience.
