We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Trainee in Intensive Care Medicine.
The primary purpose of this role is to manage patients requiring intensive care, those at risk of clinical deterioration, and pre- and post-intensive care evaluation. You will participate in the core training program of the College of Intensive Care Medicine while working under the supervision of Specialist Intensive Care Physicians.
Critically ill patients include those with life-threatening single and multiple organ system failure, those at risk of clinical deterioration, as well as those requiring resuscitation and/or management in an intensive care unit. As a Trainee, you will assist in managing, diagnosing, and treating severe medical, surgical, obstetric, and paediatric illness and the conditions that cause them.
- Manage patients requiring intensive care and those at risk of clinical deterioration.
- Participate in the core training program of the College of Intensive Care Medicine.
- Work under the supervision of Specialist Intensive Care Physicians.
This position offers a unique opportunity for medical graduates to gain extensive experience in intensive care medicine while completing their advanced training. You will be exposed to a diverse range of critical care scenarios, working closely with experienced intensivists and other healthcare professionals to develop your skills and expertise.
To excel in this role, you will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are also essential, along with the ability to prioritise workloads and make sound clinical decisions.
RequirementsTo be considered for this role, applicants must:
- Hold current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Have completed a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery degree or equivalent qualification.
- Have a minimum of 12 months of experience in a hospital setting, preferably in an intensive care environment.
- Be eligible for Fellowship with the College of Intensive Care Medicine (FCICM).
