Job Summary:

The Bricklayer is a skilled tradesperson responsible for constructing and maintaining residential and commercial buildings, as well as municipal structures. This role requires a strong understanding of building codes, safety protocols, and masonry techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting plans and specifications to determine materials and installation procedures;
  • Erecting and dismantling scaffolding;
  • Preparing foundations and laying bricks in rows, designs, and shapes;
  • Embedding blocks in mortar and removing excess mortar;
  • Checking vertical and horizontal alignment;
  • Cutting, shaping, and polishing stones and bricks using machines and hand tools;
  • Repairing and maintaining bricks, cement blocks, and related structures;
  • Designing and cutting monumental masonry and lettering;
  • Constructing walls using stone slabs and large masonry slab blocks;

Requirements:

AQF Certificate III and 2 years of on-the-job experience or 3 years of employment experience may substitute for the formal qualification. The successful candidate will possess excellent physical stamina, manual dexterity, and attention to detail.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position with an 8-hour shift schedule. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with regular exposure to construction sites, tools, and equipment. The role requires excellent communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

Compensation:

The salary for this position is $79,040.00 per year.
