Job Title: Chief Engineer - Smelter Maintenance and Reliability

Freeport McMoRan Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Chief Engineer - Smelter Maintenance and Reliability to join our team. As a key member of our Operations Improvement group, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our smelter operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Maintenance and Reliability Process across the company.
  • Develop and implement solutions to complex equipment problems that impact asset performance.
  • Collaborate with site leadership and other business functions to drive consistency and improvement in maintenance and reliability practices.
  • Conduct site and departmental assessments to identify opportunities for improvement and develop system-level solutions.
  • Develop and maintain productive partnerships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to drive component enhancements and equipment improvements.
  • Support sites in the implementation of best practices and provide technical expertise during complex diagnostic, troubleshooting, and repairs.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 11 years of related technical or engineering experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and 7 years of related technical or engineering experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
  • Master's degree in engineering or related field and 5 years of related technical or engineering experience, including supervisory or lead experience.
  • Extensive experience in Health and Safety management systems and standards for the Mining Industry.
  • Solid knowledge of Cu Processing facilities and flowsheets with focus on Smelter and Refinery facilities.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of maintenance execution, including preventive work, component replacement, condition monitoring, and troubleshooting of Smelting and Refinery assets.
  • Extensive experience of successfully leading Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Extensive experience managing maintenance and reliability organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of Asset Life Cycle management, including financial and supply aspects.
  • Strong knowledge of Production, Asset Performance, and Work Management metrics.
  • Very strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Very strong presentation and communication skills to provide clear and concise recommendations to all levels of the organization.
