About the Division / Team
Our Hunter Valley network primarily supports the Hunter Valley coal chain – the largest thermal coal export operation globally – by delivering a dependable and efficient rail transport system linking mines to the Port of Newcastle. We oversee the operation of approximately 250 trains daily on our network, with coal trains making up about half of this total, alongside passenger services, grain, general intermodal, and other bulk freight trains.
About the Opportunity
Located in Muswellbrook, NSW, with an appealing lifestyle roster, ARTC is currently inviting applications from Signal Electricians eager to join our Hunter Valley Asset Maintenance team. Key Responsibilities:
Signal Mastery: Install, maintain, and repair essential signalling and communication systems.
Expert Diagnostics: Troubleshoot issues, pinpoint faults, and ensure trains are operational.
Diverse Tasks: Manage a variety of responsibilities, from maintaining overhead lines to repairing complex mechanical locking systems.
Safety First: Respond swiftly to emergencies and guarantee the flawless and safe operation of equipment.
Knowledge Sharing: Train and mentor others, promoting a collaborative and safety-focused environment.
Strategic Thinking: Suggest enhancements, optimize functionality, and maintain our infrastructure's efficiency.
Team Collaboration: Contribute as a team member, enhance workplace culture, communicate effectively, and strive for excellence.

To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate:
Essential Qualifications:
Knowledge and ability to apply rail safety management principles, OHS standards, and electrical codes of practice
Proven experience in diagnosing and rectifying signal and communication equipment issues in a rail context
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Capability to work independently and collaboratively
Proficiency in applying quality systems, including policies and procedures
Customer service orientation
Class C Driver's License
ARTC Statement of Competency (Signals) or demonstrated capacity to achieve as per Signals Competency Assessment (EST)
Desirable Qualifications:
Current AUSTEL / ACA license
