Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Assistant to join our team in the School of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical and research support to the research team, assisting in the preparation of cell culture of human cell lines and primary tissues, preparing samples for DNA and RNA sequencing and analysis, and using viral vectors to transduce target cells.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct cell culture experiments and prepare cell samples for DNA and RNA sequencing and analysis.
  • Establish and run reporter assays, including those involving viral vectors.
  • Prepare and contribute to the production of technical reports and maintain accurate research logbooks.
  • Attend laboratory meetings, research symposia, and training sessions, and take minutes as required.
  • Respond to enquiries from stakeholders and collaborators regarding the research project.
  • Maintain alignment with and actively demonstrate the Code of Conduct and Values.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures, and take reasonable care to ensure the health and safety of yourself and others.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Education:
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or Biochemistry.
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of cell culture techniques, molecular biology, and biochemistry.
  • Experience with DNA and RNA sequencing and analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
