Assistant Accountant Job Description

Cox Purtell is currently working with a prestigious association operating in the Legal industry who are seeking an Assistant Accountant to play a key role within a number of financial activities undertaken by the association.

This role involves advising the Trust Account Department of new and closed Trust Accounts and processing all entries for the Statutory Deposit Accounts, including interest.

Key Responsibilities:
  • General Trust and Statutory Deposit reconciliations to confirm interest rate paid and interest payment received updated monthly or when reporting is received
  • Weekly and Monthly data processing of all entries for the Statutory Deposit Accounts
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Monthly and year end reporting
  • Receipting of direct deposits, cheques and credit cards when required
  • Accounting and invoice entries processed weekly and monthly
  • EFT payments prepared and processed when required
  • Engage with auditors
  • Assist Financial Controller with ad-hoc tasks

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce or a related field and at least 3 years of experience as an Assistant Accountant in a chartered or professional/financial services firm.
