Job Title: Taxation Policy Specialist

Job Description:

The key responsibility of the Principal Taxation Advisor is to oversee and manage corporate taxation duties, ensuring adherence to legislative requirements. This role demands in-depth knowledge of Australian taxation laws and experience in leading activities related to the National Tax Equivalents Regime.

  • Review and analysis: Lead high-quality examination and analysis of complex taxation matters, issues, proposals, submissions, and other materials to identify and consider taxation-related issues.
  • Specialist advice: Provide expert guidance and input into research, analysis, and drafting of policies, including ministerial correspondence and briefings for senior management.
  • Team leadership: Manage a small finance and taxation team, including daily/weekly task allocation, recruitment, performance, capability development, team communication, and ensuring a safe and diverse work environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this position, you will need to possess:

  • Comprehensive knowledge: Extensive understanding and application of Australian taxation legislation (particularly Goods & Services Tax and Fringe Benefits Tax).
  • National Tax Equivalents Regime expertise: Experience leading activities related to the National Tax Equivalents Regime (NTER).
  • Excellent communication skills: Possess excellent communication skills to provide accurate and high-quality advice to employees and key contacts.
