Role Description

The Artistic Operations Manager will play a key role in the success of our organisation, working closely with the Artistic Director and Administration Manager to develop and implement effective systems for scheduling, budgeting, and project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the artistic duties of the orchestra, including concert seasons, regional touring, education programs, external hires, and special events.
  • Coordinate with musicians, staff, and stakeholders to maintain positive relationships and open communication.
  • Develop and implement effective systems for scheduling, budgeting, and project management.
  • Collaborate with the Artistic Director and Administration Manager to ensure seamless logistics and communication.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in orchestra management or a related field.
  • Ability to read music and have knowledge of orchestral and chamber music repertoire and music history.
  • Familiarity with the Australian orchestral scene and its participants.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and coordinate multiple demands.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, including the ability to plan, coordinate, and implement programs and seasons.
  • Experience in stage managing performances and setting up, operating, and packing down basic lighting and sound equipment.
  • Physical ability to transport, set up, and pack down equipment and musical instruments required for MCO activities.
  • Computer literacy and competence in preparing professional office documents, as well as experience with budgeting and project modelling.
  • Negotiation and conflict management skills, with a full and current driver's licence.
