Legal Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Practitioner to join our team at Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service. As a key member of our legal team, you will provide expert casework assistance and information to clients and external stakeholders.

• Provide high-level client services in Family and Civil Law proceedings, including casework relating to Child Protection and Domestic Violence Applications, and Civil Litigation generally.
• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of key legislation, practices, and procedures in the fields of Family Law and Civil Law.
• Work collaboratively with the Principal Legal Officer and Directors of Law to develop culturally competent legal services.
• Assist in the development of Court Support/Field Officers' and other legal staff members' training/education.

• Admission as a Legal Practitioner within the State of Queensland or holder of (or eligibility for immediate acquisition of) a current Practising Certificate.
• Minimum two (2) years post-admission experience, with a significant comprehension of the application of relevant legislation and employment experience.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office in a Windows networked environment.
• Current Queensland Driver Licence and ability to drive in all reasonable conditions.
