The Role


Overview

As a key member of our team, you will lead the development and implementation of our financial strategy. This permanent, full-time role is based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya, with potential to be based at other Council sites across the region.

This position involves shaping long-, medium-, and short-term financial planning; delivering high-quality internal financial reporting; and driving financial capability across the Council.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Finance Business Partnering team and manage the organisation's management accounting function.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive financial plans that meet the needs of the organisation.
  • Coordinate and integrate budgeting and planning processes, including the Long-Term Financial Plan, 4-year budget estimates, and the Statement of Revenue Policy.
  • Prepare and deliver accurate, insightful financial reports and analysis to guide executive planning and enhance financial accountability.
  • Model financial scenarios with leaders across the organisation, assess the impact of service delivery changes, and ensure alignment with the Community Strategic Plan and other corporate frameworks.
Requirements and Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline and hold a CA or CPA qualification (or Australian recognised equivalent).

Minimum five years' experience in a senior finance role is required, with local government experience highly regarded.

A proven track record in financial strategy development, including creation of long-term financial plans, is essential.

Strong experience in preparing monthly and quarterly budget review reports, with a demonstrated ability to enhance how financial information is analysed and presented to stakeholders, is also required.

What We Offer

Salary: Circa $130,000 – $154,000 plus 12% superannuation (subject to skills and experience)
