Job Opportunity:

UGL- APMC is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our rollingstock maintenance team based at our facility in Keswick. This role will be offered on a permanent basis.

About the Role:

">

The successful candidate will perform mechanical related tasks such as overhaul, installation and fit out of mechanical equipment.

">

Key responsibilities include:

">
  • ">
  • Performing inspections, preventative maintenance, and unscheduled repairs according to trade knowledge and training.">
  • Undertaking fault finding and troubleshooting of routine vehicle problems.">
  • Identifying and repairing rail carriage faults, including but not limited to carriage air brakes, bogies, under carriage, inter-carriage equipment and EVAC toilet system.">
  • Inspecting and interpreting drawings and specifications and determining method of manufacture and standards as required">
  • Ensuring active involvement in 5S activities Lean Manufacturing.">
  • Performing routine maintenance on tools and equipment.">
  • Selecting the appropriate materials, methods, equipment, and tools necessary to complete the job.">
  • Performing servicing, fault finding and troubleshooting tasks; this work will at times be complex in nature and required to be completed to meet tight scheduling deadlines.">
  • Demonstrating strong commitment to maintain a safe work environment following 5S principles.">
  • Following rail safety and environmental requirements as directed by supervisors and operations manager.">
  • Requisitioning materials/components to the level of their delegation.">
  • Booking out materials and components from the store according to the assigned jobs.">
  • Carrying out any other relevant tasks assigned by the Shift Supervisor.">

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Relevant Trade Qualification.">
  • Previous work experience in the rail industry is desirable.">
  • A high level of measuring skills and eye for detail and quality standards.">
  • Strong communication skills. Both oral and written.">
  • Innovated and able to resolve routine, warranty quality, maintenance, and servicing problems.">
