Generalist School Counsellor Position

The role of the Generalist School Counsellor is to provide comprehensive support services for students in a school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Support: Provide assistance to students in areas such as attendance, engagement, and mental health.
  • Counselling Services: Offer one-on-one and group counselling sessions to support student wellbeing.
  • Service Coordination: Refer students to relevant services or facilitate access to community-based resources.
  • Wellbeing Environment: Foster an environment that promotes physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development among all students.
  • Interpersonal Relationships: Encourage cooperation and mutual respect among students and staff.
  • Diversity Promotion: Understand and promote diversity within various cultures and traditions.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Informal Support: Provide informal support during recess and lunch breaks.
  • Collaboration with Teachers: Work with teachers on behavioural support for individual students.
  • Support for Teachers: Offer support to teachers as required.
  • Workshops and Training: Develop and deliver workshops on social skills and resiliency for students.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in a related Wellbeing area (counselling, youth work, psychology).

Working Conditions:

  • Contract Type: Casual/Contract/Part-time.
  • Hours per Week: 10-15 hours.
  • Shift: Day shift.
