We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Career Development Specialist to join our team at the State Government of Victoria, Australia. As a key member of our education and training team, you will play a vital role in supporting students to achieve their career goals and aspirations.
Key Responsibilities- Design and deliver career development programs that cater to the diverse needs of students, including those with disabilities.
- Provide one-on-one counseling services to students, parents, and the wider school community, focusing on post-compulsory options and career planning.
- Keep students informed about developments in the workforce, industry areas, and tertiary opportunities, both locally and nationally.
- Develop students' skills in resume and cover letter writing, as well as interview techniques.
- Support the organization of career education programs in Year 10, including work experience, to prepare students for subject selection.
- Coordinate the Year 9 Morrisby assessments and conduct targeted career information sessions and newsletters for students and parents.
- Participate in local Tertiary Information Service activities, career expos, and open days, and run school information nights.
- Coordinate Career Action Plans, utilizing Career Tools, and maintain detailed knowledge of meaningful pathways.
- Attend local careers network meetings and career practitioner briefings at universities and TAFEs throughout the year.
- Keep school management and teachers informed about developments in school-based VET opportunities to enhance curriculum and vocational awareness.
- Attend outside DVCEA meetings and source Australian School-based Apprenticeships (SBAT).
- Ensure compliance with Child Safety Regulations regarding VET/SBAT/SWL and be available during recess and lunch.
- Promote events to students through classroom visits and assemblies, and perform other duties as directed by the Principal.
- Aptitude, experience, and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.
- Appointment of successful applicants will be made subject to a satisfactory pre-employment conditions check.
- A probationary period may apply during the first year of employment, and induction and support programs will be provided.
