Position Overview

We are currently seeking a proficient Health, Safety, and Wellbeing (HSW) Business Partner to join our vibrant People and Strategy Division. The HSW Business Partner will play a crucial role in delivering comprehensive health, safety, and wellbeing services throughout the organization. This position emphasizes the formulation, execution, and assessment of health and safety initiatives, governance of safety systems, and evaluation of workplace incidents. The HSW Business Partner will also offer expert guidance and coaching to senior leaders and health safety committees regarding the performance of the organization's safety systems, risk assessments, and reporting on achievements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and effective HSW services in compliance with relevant legislation and organizational policies.
  • Lead HSW committees and local workgroups, ensuring the maintenance of risk registers.
  • Engage with stakeholders to create briefings, management reports, and offer strategic advice.
  • Monitor and report on HSW system performance in relation to established targets and project outcomes.
  • Investigate hazards, injuries, and incidents to enhance safety results.
  • Develop and advocate for the organization's safety system, including conducting audits and safety enhancement projects.
  • Oversee the organization’s involvement in both internal and external audits.
  • Foster safety capabilities among leaders for effective hazard and risk management.
  • Collaborate with leadership and staff to address health, safety, and wellbeing risks.
  • Review and refine HSW policies and practices.
  • Ensure the integrity of the HSW system, including governance, risk management, training, and reporting.
  • Establish positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create promotional materials and training programs.

The ideal candidate for the Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Business Partner role is a motivated and experienced professional. You will champion proactive teamwork and collaboration within your team and across the organization, applying your enthusiasm to promote high-quality HSW practices.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Proven experience in WHS management systems, incident investigations, policy formulation, and performance reporting.
  • Ability to inspire teams, fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated expertise in providing health, safety, and wellbeing advisory services.
  • Familiarity with the Work Health and Safety Act, Return to Work Act, and relevant regulations and codes of practice.
  • Capability to build effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and negotiation.
  • Proven ability to achieve organizational goals and enhance systems under broad guidance.

Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in WHS Management, Health Science/Psychology, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Eligibility to work in Australia.
  • Completion of a criminal history check.
