Laboratory Assistant

About the Role

Townsville Catholic Education is seeking an experienced and dedicated Science Laboratory Assistant to support the Science Learning Area.

The successful candidate will assist with the preparation and delivery of equipment and materials for classes in Years 7-12, maintaining control of equipment and laboratories in order to support the Science programs throughout the College.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide effective assistance for science programs by preparing equipment, materials, and chemicals for laboratory experiments.
• Assist in the design and demonstration of experiments under the supervision of academic staff.
• Prepare, maintain, and organise equipment and materials for routine experiments and student projects.
• Maintain inventory records and equipment maintenance logs.
• Perform other duties as reasonably directed.

About You

• The ability to work collaboratively with staff and engage in discussion of contemporary issues and research.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimum supervision.
• Understanding of Work Health and Safety and associated safe work practices in a laboratory environment.

Mandatory Criteria

• Current Working with Children Suitability Card.
• Current Driver's Licence.
• Ability to travel within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role.

Desirable Criteria

• Relevant qualifications - Cert III Laboratory Skills/Cert IV Laboratory Techniques.
• Previous experience in the education field.
