About the Role

Mater Private Hospital Brisbane's Perioperative Unit is seeking experienced Registered Nurses with Scrub/Scout expertise to join our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and organize the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are readily available.
  • Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, sponges, and other supplies during procedures.
  • Maintain strict aseptic technique throughout the surgical process to prevent infection.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to anticipate and respond to the needs of the surgeon, ensuring a seamless workflow.
  • Monitor and assess patient vital signs before, during, and after surgery, providing immediate intervention if necessary.
  • Document accurate and comprehensive surgical records, ensuring patient confidentiality and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Act as a patient advocate, ensuring their comfort, safety, and wellbeing throughout the surgical experience.
  • Continuously update your knowledge and skills through professional development opportunities, staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in surgical nursing practices.
About You

Other skills and experience include:

  • Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions).
  • At least 3 years' recent Scrub/Scout experience.
  • Ability to work in an ever-changing and fast-paced environment.
  • A strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate both in a team environment and autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, and strong listening, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to ensuring the levels of service are always delivered to patients at all times.
