We are seeking an experienced Lead Structural Engineer to join our team in Newcastle, supporting recent business success and growth.

About the Role

  • Ensure structural design deliverables meet standards, checked, approved, and issued to other disciplines and clients with revision control documentation.
  • Act as client-facing lead, coordinating project activities to achieve time and budget objectives.
  • Generate and review technical documents, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Prepare specifications, design criteria, scope of work, and material take-off lists.
  • Develop engineering proposals and monitor budgets, staying within allocated funds.
  • Maintain high levels of communication with Project Managers and Engineers, informing them of technical activities, staffing, budgets, and schedules.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the Structural Engineering Team, implementing best practices and sharing knowledge of industry developments.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative solutions.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in structural engineering.
  • 10+ years' experience in engineering consulting or large organizations, preferably with construction experience.
  • Accreditation as a Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) or ability to obtain.
  • Demonstrated experience in client-facing project management roles, leading design teams to deliver project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing steel structures and concrete foundations for industrial and mining projects.
  • Enhanced knowledge of Engineering ISO, AS, ANSI, API, etc., standard design codes.
  • Ability to mentor and support the development of structural engineers within the Ausenco team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
