Social Work Educator Role

As a Social Work Educator, you will provide strategic leadership and direction for the professional development, training, education, research, and ongoing practice development of social workers.

About the Role
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the professional development, training, education, research, and ongoing practice development of social workers.
  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive program of continuing professional education that meets the varying needs of student and graduate social workers, as well as experienced social work practitioners and managers.
  • Ensure that social work practice and services are aligned with the current Australian Association of Social Workers' (AASW) Code of Ethics, Practice, and Supervision Standards.

The role involves four main areas of responsibility: leadership, clinical performance/operational requirements, communication, and consumer focus, and professional development. Key duties include:

  • Facilitating social work clinical education, project, and research placements.
  • Leading discipline-linked service development projects.
  • Providing clinical supervision and ensuring that social work practice is grounded in an ethically and legally sound framework.
  • Managing quality, safety, and risks.

Requirements
  • An approved degree in social work and eligibility for membership of the AASW.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to forensic mental health consumer recovery.
  • Knowledge and understanding of social work practice in forensic mental health or related fields.
  • Extensive practice experience in a social work setting.
