Previs Artist

As a highly skilled Previs Artist, you will play a pivotal role in the creation of bold, immersive animated films that captivate global audiences. Working collaboratively with a dynamic team of artists, your primary responsibility will be to establish the lensing style, cinematic staging, and camera language for our first Animated Feature.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create 3D shots and sequences based on script pages, storyboards, and/or Supervisor/Director briefs, showcasing exceptional visual storytelling skills.
  • Set dress environments and locations for Layout and Animation where possible, incorporating Art Department supplied designs.
  • Develop rigged assets and rough animated elements to guide framing and story, ensuring seamless integration with downstream departments.
  • Light and render required sequences efficiently, delivering high-quality results within tight deadlines.
  • Compile previs sequences to sound, enabling effective visualization of the story, highlighting narrative strengths and weaknesses.
  • Clearly understand creative requirements of a sequence and deliver these objectives in a timely manner, adhering to the highest standards.
  • Provide technical setups of shots to support collaboration across departments.
  • Support the growth and development of colleagues through mentorship and guidance.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of experience in Previs and/or Layout on Animated Feature Film projects.
  • Demonstrable expertise in transforming 2D storyboards into engaging 3D experiences.
  • Persuasive examples of visual storytelling that showcase composition, staging, and shot rhythm.
  • Strong understanding of traditional film principles, including camera, lenses, editing, and film language.
  • Proficiency in Blender and Maya software, with ability to adapt to new tools as needed.
  • Fundamental knowledge of character animation principles.
  • A solid grasp of editing concepts and compositing techniques, enabling seamless scene integration and sound incorporation.
