Landfill Operations Coordinator

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to join our team as a landfill operations coordinator. As part of the City Assets department, you will play a key role in ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations at landfills and recycling facilities.
The Role
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing best practice and operational efficiency at both closed and operational landfills, as well as an engineering waste recycling facility. This includes managing staff and contractors, working with engineers on future cell construction, operating and managing leachate extraction and treatment plants, and developing and implementing management systems and work health safety plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day landfill and recycling operations, including staff and contractor management, and collaboration with engineers for future cell construction.
- Operate and manage leachate extraction and treatment plants at operational and closed landfill sites.
- Develop, implement, and review management systems, work health safety plans, and closure plans.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, licenses, guidelines, policies, and plans.
- Implement innovative measures to improve operations and supervise capital works and minor projects.
Requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive job-related experience.
- Current Class C Driver's Licence.
- Demonstrated environmental management skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of plant operations, construction of landfills, and recycling of engineering waste.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of legislation relating to waste management, environment, local government, work health safety, and equal opportunity.
