Job Overview

The Heavy Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining our modern fleet of Prime movers, earthmoving equipment and all mechanical equipment operational and serviced, maintained and repaired as needed in accordance with requirements.

Duties

  1. Carry out truck and trailer scheduled servicing, maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal performance.
  2. Maintain accurate records of work completed including fleet paper trail on servicing, maintenance and repairs.
  3. Perform repairs as directed and parts change outs to minimize downtime.
  4. Attend roadside breakdowns and provide assistance to drivers and plant operators.
  5. Communicate effectively with drivers and plant operators to ensure smooth operations.
  6. Order parts using order numbers and listed suppliers to maintain inventory levels.
  7. Maintain company vehicles and mechanical aids to ensure they are in good working condition.
  8. Identify and record deficiencies relating to products and services to improve overall efficiency.

Requirements

  • Candidate must hold a current Trade Certificate.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a Tradesman is required.
  • Experience working with Road Transport is essential.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records of work completed is necessary.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening is required.
  • Must be able to work autonomously and within a team environment.

Salary

$70,000 - $90,000 per annum depending on experience.
