About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advisor (Real-time Network Management) to join our team at the Department of Transport and Main Roads. As a key member of our Traffic Management Centre, you will play a critical role in maintaining the efficiency and safety of Queensland's road network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Real-time Network Monitoring: Monitor the state-controlled road network in real-time and respond to operational issues, providing operational decisions and subject matter expertise to set priorities, monitor workflow, develop local strategies, procedures, and work practices, and allocate resources.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and coach traffic management centre operators, ensuring they have the necessary skills sets and training needs are identified and developed.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders and service providers to ensure effective responses to planned and unplanned traffic incidents and events.
  • Procedure Development: Review and update Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions, and deliver training to ensure consistency across the TMC.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Assist in the preparation of reports and correspondence, ensuring accurate supporting data.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct audits to ensure the quality of data in incident management systems and identify gaps to inform training.
About You

To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the ability to:

  • Teamwork: Work as part of a cohesive and diverse team and provide guidance and training to other staff.

You will also have effective communication skills, including the ability to debrief staff and develop written briefs of events on the road network.

Mandatory Qualifications and Conditions
  • This role requires the employee to undertake shift work on a rotating roster five or seven days a week.
  • Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
