St.Giles is a leading disability service provider in Tasmania, and we are seeking a skilled Water Safety Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring the safety of our clients in the hydrotherapy pool environment.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and have a strong commitment to providing exceptional customer service. They will also have the ability to multitask, prioritize tasks effectively, and maintain a safe and healthy environment for all pool users.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervising the Hydrotherapy Pool Space: The Water Safety Specialist will be responsible for supervising the hydrotherapy pool space and ensuring that all pool users follow the rules and regulations.
  • Lifeguard Duties: They will perform lifeguard duties as required, including rescue and first aid operations.
  • Facility Rules and Regulations: They will ensure that facility rules and regulations are being followed by pool users, while also educating them on safe aquatic practices.
  • Patron Safety and Wellbeing: They will take proactive measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patrons, the facility, and equipment.
Requirements:
  • Pool Lifeguard Certification: The successful candidate must hold current certification in pool lifeguarding, including HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid, SISCAQU019 – Supervise patron safety in aquatic locations, SISCAQU020 – Perform water rescues, SISCAQU021 – Perform complex water rescues, SISCAQU022 – Provide oxygen resuscitation and therapy in an aquatic environment, and HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Current Accreditation: They must be currently accredited in these components.
  • NDIS Knowledge: Knowledge of NDIS and participant/family centred practices is desirable.
  • Certifications and Checks: They must hold a National Police Check (no older than 3 months) and be able to apply for a Working with Vulnerable People Card/NDIS Worker Screening Check.
