Job Summary

The Perioperative Unit is responsible for providing clinical care to patients undergoing surgery in the West Wing of the hospital.

This role requires nursing expertise and autonomy, with increasing levels of professional judgement exercised as the nurse progresses from a beginning to an experienced practitioner.

The Central Sterilisation Services Department (CSSD) provides sterilization services to patients, and the Registered Nurse will work independently and interdependently, assuming accountability and responsibility for own actions and delegation of care to Enrolled Nurses, Assistants in Nursing, and healthcare workers.

Key responsibilities include demonstrating nursing competence in various perioperative roles, such as anaesthetic Nurse, instrument Nurse, circulating Nurse, scope Nurse, and recovery Nurse.

Additional requirements include maintaining relevant patient care standards through ongoing research and development, and adhering to NMBA standards and codes, educational preparation, relevant legislation, and context of care.

To succeed in this role, the nurse must possess excellent communication skills, be able to prioritize tasks effectively, and demonstrate adaptability in a dynamic environment.
