Strategic Leadership Role

The role requires a seasoned executive to lead the Office of the Director-General with strategic and operational leadership, driving time-sensitive initiatives for the Director-General and the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee priority program areas including Estimates preparation, the Ethical Standards Unit, and stakeholder relationships with government leaders.
  • Operational lead for the workplan and priorities for the Director-General's office, including executive services functions and issues management.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Office of the Minister, Deputy Directors-General, Board Chairs, and Health Service Chief Executives.
  • Provide comprehensive issues management and whole-of-department coordination in response to emergent situations.
  • Lead high-performance teams to achieve strategic priorities and drive efficiency.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Proven experience as a strategic leader in a large and complex organisation, preferably in the health sector.
  • A track record of delivering under pressure and exercising sound judgement in dynamic environments.
  • Expert-level knowledge of executive services management and leadership principles.
  • Strong consultative, interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders and develop high-performing teams.
  • Able to operate effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary executive team.

The Office manages the public health system in Queensland, regulating health services, developing programs to improve health, coordinating services, providing ambulance services, and working with agencies to enhance health policies and programs.
