Food and Beverage Operations Manager

About the Role
The Director of Food and Beverage will be responsible for overseeing the Event venues, Tea Lounge, Promenade Cafe and Speakers Corner at Hyatt Hotel Canberra. As the Business Manager and Marketing specialist for the Food and Beverage department, you will be responsible for managing these outlets as successful independent profit centres, ensuring maximum guest satisfaction consistent with Hyatt International standards.
Responsibilities
- Build and nurture positive, professional relationships with guests and colleagues alike.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase sales and profitability, such as upselling techniques or promotional events.
- Develop and execute marketing plans to attract customers, including advertising, promotions, and special events.
- Ensure venues are prepared for service according to defined standards.
- Collaborate closely with chefs to create and update menus, ensuring variety, quality, and profitability.
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise team members, including food and beverage attendants, hosts, bartenders, supervisors.
- Manage budgets for the outlets, monitoring expenses, and maximizing revenue while minimizing costs.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as hotel policies and procedures.
Requirements
- University degree or Diploma in Hospitality or Tourism management.
- Demonstrated recent experience as a Director of F&B, or Assistant Director of F&B in a large property, five-star experience highly regarded.
- Good operational, administrative, and interpersonal skills are a must. Wine/beverage knowledge in an upscale environment preferred. Strong organizational skills, the ability to work with a flexible work schedule, be a team player, and a dynamic leader. Good problem-solving, administrative, and interpersonal skills. A valid and current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate.
