Emergency Veterinary Nurse Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Emergency Veterinary Nurse to join our dynamic team.

About the Role

This is a critical care role that involves working in a fast-paced environment where quick thinking, excellent communication skills, and a passion for emergency and critical care are essential. You will play a crucial role in providing timely and compassionate care to critically ill and injured animals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill and injured animals in the emergency department.
  • Triage and Assessment: Quickly and accurately assess patients to determine the level of urgency and appropriate interventions.
  • Monitoring: Utilise advanced monitoring equipment to track vital signs and respond promptly to any changes in patient condition.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care and effective communication.
  • Client Communication: Update and communicate with pet owners regarding their pet's condition, treatment plans, and prognosis.
  • Medical Procedures: Assist in a variety of medical procedures, including but not limited to wound care, fluid therapy, and administration of medications.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with hospital protocols.
Requirements:
  • Cert IV qualified nurse or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in emergency and critical care nursing.
  • Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood sample collection, and anesthesia monitoring.
  • Familiarity with advanced monitoring equipment is advantageous.
  • Ability to work well and adapt quickly to challenges in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and compassionately to pet owners.
