About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Officer to join our team in the Department of Dentistry at La Trobe University. The successful candidate will provide technical, administrative, and facilities support services to assist staff and students in achieving teaching and learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Test, calibrate, and maintain equipment required for dental teaching laboratories
  • Ensure infection and prevention control protocols and processes are followed according to Australian Dental Association standards and guidelines
  • Supervise and correct students in infection, prevention and control when they learn in the clinic
  • Maintain the day-to-day running of the sterilization room
  • Follow verbal instructions, procedures, and protocols to learn new hands-on tasks

Requirements:

  • Completion of a degree or relevant work experience
  • Dental assistant or oral health therapist qualification is essential
  • A sound understanding and practical experience of infection prevention and control in a dental setting
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret policies and procedures in the application of precedent
