Commissioner for Legal Regulation

The Commissioner is a key role in driving consistency and efficiency in legal regulation across jurisdictions. This position serves as both the Commissioner for Uniform Legal Services Regulation and CEO of the Legal Services Council, leading strategic policy, regulatory integration, and operational excellence.

This role requires a deep understanding of best practice regulation principles, regulatory frameworks, and legal market dynamics. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in legal policy, regulation, or professional standards, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Council's operations and committees in line with its strategic direction and timelines.
  • Ensure the secretariat delivers timely, high-quality advice on the development and maintenance of Uniform Rules.
  • Promote compliance with the requirements of the Uniform Law and the Uniform Rules.
  • Oversee financial management and drive operational efficiencies.
