Job Description

As an education support class member, you will play a vital role in supporting students from language backgrounds other than English.

The school has established a reputation for its provision of settlement and education needs for newly arrived primary and secondary students. Students are taught in classes of about 13 to ensure their English language, social learning and wellbeing needs are intensively supported.

A student wellbeing strategy ensures that students and their families are welcomed and supported as newly arrived members of their new community. The school's networks of support ensure the health needs, community links and further educational pathways of all students are strongly supported.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to assist in providing quality communication between parents, students, teachers and the communities of primary and secondary campuses
  • Knowledge and ideas that could assist teachers to provide effective learning for all students in both primary and secondary classrooms
  • Strategies to assist individual students who are having difficulty with their studies due to settlement/cultural/emotional barriers
  • Ability and willingness to contribute to the care, safety and wellbeing of students in both primary and secondary sectors
  • Level of computer skills and ways in which these skills can be used to assist primary and secondary students' learning

You will work closely with teaching staff to develop and implement strategies that meet the diverse needs of our students. You will also have opportunities for professional growth and development through ongoing training and support.
