Forensic Mental Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our Forensic Mental Health Court Services team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing expert clinical consultation and assessment services to the court system.

The main focus of this role is clinical assessment and completion of court reports, including referrals of consumers appearing in Magistrates Courts in South Australia to appropriate services, with the aim of achieving continuity, quality of patient care and outcomes.

  • You will assist the magistrates courts by providing advice and assistance concerning consumers who are to appear before the courts, with the aim to ensure appropriate orders and outcomes occur.

To be eligible for this position, you must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate, enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or holds a qualification in mental health practice.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert clinical consultation and assessment services to the court system.
  • Completing court reports, including referrals of consumers appearing in Magistrates Courts in South Australia to appropriate services.
  • Assisting the magistrates courts by providing advice and assistance concerning consumers who are to appear before the courts.
  • Ensuring appropriate orders and outcomes occur.

Requirements:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Current practicing certificate or eligibility to hold one.
  • Enrolled in an approved Mental Health course or holds a qualification in mental health practice.
