Signatures Engineer Role

The role of a Signatures Engineer is to provide engineering design guidance and modelling support in the management of ship noise and vibration, as well as radar signatures.

This position requires collaboration with system design teams to implement design modifications and liaise with suppliers to validate ship signatures prediction modelling.

The successful candidate will work closely with Engineering Managers and Ship Design Authorities to develop and improve modelling techniques, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Key responsibilities include undertaking analysis, reporting on signatures analysis at Project Design Reviews, conducting on-ship build verification noise and vibration measurements, and managing Operating Environment Risks.

A relevant Engineering/Naval Architecture/Mathematics/Physics degree qualification and membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia are essential requirements.

Desirable skills and experience include mechanical design engineering, acoustics engineering, noise & vibration engineering, mathematical modelling, and FEA/FEM/Matlab modelling.

Requirements:
  • Relevant degree qualification and satisfying the requirements for membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia.
  • Experience in commercial or defence shipbuilding, mechanical design engineering, acoustics engineering, noise & vibration engineering, mathematical modelling, FEA / FEM / Matlab modelling.
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary engineering design teams across the UK and Australia.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Hold Eligibility for Australian Defence Security Clearance.
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations.
