Senior Communication Specialist

Join us to fill this role and bring your expertise in real-time data networks and time-critical communications.

This key position is part of our Design Review division, working closely with the Engineering Manager. The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert (SME) in designing and maintaining high-performance communications environments.

You will contribute significantly to integrated engineering assurance processes and ensure operational safety, reliability, and performance through real-time systems underpinning the rail network.

About the Role

As a Senior Communication Specialist, you will oversee design review activities across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with standards and operational concepts. You will work at the intersection of engineering assurance and real-time communications to ensure our systems meet demanding rail environment requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to meet design assurance demands.
  • Review designs for compliance with safety management systems, standards, and operational concepts.
  • Assess applications for derogation from standards in terms of safety, practicality, performance, reliability, and economic benefits.
  • Analyse and respond to technical queries related to project works.
  • Contribute to the development and/or assessment of applications for system approval.
  • Input to future project development through review of reference and concept designs.
  • Endorse Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
  • Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies.
Required Skills & Qualifications

Substantial experience in real-time systems, OCS and Communications, with a strong understanding of complex rail infrastructure or large construction projects. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant Electrical Engineering discipline are essential.

The successful candidate must hold a Registered Professional Engineer in Victoria (RPEV) qualification in electrical engineering.
