Security Compliance Officer

The role of Security Compliance Officer is to ensure the company's compliance with national security requirements, enabling business in sensitive industries and complying with Critical Infrastructure and Telecommunication regulations worldwide. The Security Compliance team is looking for a dedicated professional with familiarity of the objectives and obligations of the Australian Defence's Industry Security Program.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Fulfill the primary role of a DISP Security Officer within the Security Compliance Office accountable to the Regional Manager and DISP CSO for ongoing management and maintenance of DISP related activities and other national security programmes and initiatives.
  • Comply with all Defence, AGSVA, and Australian Government requirements as the Security Officer.
  • Manage daily administration of mandatory compliance artefacts, such as the DISP Security Register, and GS2 document sharing sites.
  • Identify, develop, and implement required processes and improvements in the portfolio to meet government obligations.
  • Support the Regional Manager and Director GS2 (DISP Chief Security Officer) to monitor, interpret, and implement policy and legislation changes and ensure compliance across Australia.
  • Assume the role of a Local Secrecy Officer, supporting businesses to enable compliance with global policies.
  • Develop and maintain internal stakeholder relationships to support regional regulatory obligations and related opportunities.
  • Participate in initiatives to improve operations and capacity to support customers in highly regulated markets.
  • Be an exemplar of good security practices and a positive security culture in action.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Significant management experience in a security function within government ministries/agencies, regulated industries, or companies operating in a national security setting.
  • Undergraduate/postgraduate academic qualifications or relevant professional qualifications in related disciplines such as Government Protective Security, Information Assurance, Information Security, and Risk Management are desirable.
  • Australian citizenship is required due to government relations across ANZ jurisdictions.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Personal Security Clearance issued by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency is required.
  • Essential knowledge, skills, and experience:
  • Excellent organisational awareness and planning; experience in security and compliance administration, document safeguarding, and classified information assurance per Australian policy and related laws.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and influencing skills with government authorities, regulators, and security organisations on behalf of the leadership.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills across a multi-national, multicultural setting; ability to engage at executive levels.
  • Proven ability to administer and maintain compliance artefacts for auditability by government or internal SAP.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite.
  • Experience in large or complex Programme/Project Support Offices, with emphasis on resource management, data/document management and security administration.
  • Program/project management qualifications are highly regarded.
  • Ability to operate in a diverse and challenging regulatory environment, independently and as part of a small, agile team.
  • Willingness to attend scheduled and ad hoc meetings with colleagues outside core hours and travel within ANZ and potentially overseas subject to health/safety restrictions.
